NEC 220.87 provides an optional method for determining existing loads using the maximum demand. This method requires the maximum demand data be based on a minimum of:

• 90 days of utility billing records
• 30 days of actual metered demand data
• No time period specified — any data may be used
• 1 year minimum of actual metered demand data
